Producing Music & Becoming a Beat Maker
Many music producers want to learn how to produce music and become beatmakers! but the real question is how? How to Produce Music?
This is the list you will need to get started
1) Computer or Laptop with at least 4GB ram
2) Music Software DAW (FL Studio – Windows & Mac, Logic Pro – Mac Only)
3) Studio Monitors, sound interface and a Midi keyboard (with all the correct wires)
We have outlined the main 3 bullet points of what you need to become a rookie music producer, it will cost you around 400 to 500 USD to GBP to get started as a beginner, but once you get this equipment what do you do then? You still need to learn how to become a beat maker and how to produce music.
So what do you do when you get this beat making equipment?
1) You will need to learn music theory at least the basics of piano keys and how they work, this can take up to 3 months. There are many online and youtube videos that teach music theory, learn chord progressions. you will need to learn all minor and major chord progressions and this will give you a good understanding of how chords and chord progressions work.
Many beat makers that want to produce music will simply skip this step and later find out that they will need to learn this anyway regardless. Once they learn the chord progression, composing beats will become much easier.
2) You will need to learn how to use the music production software, there are many courses which you can attempt, which in fact do cost a bit. The second option is that you can simply learn from online videos, there are currently over 100,000 music production tutorials on youtube and its probably one of the most popular places where music producers tend to go when their craving information or lacking knowledge. We highly recommend you searching up some youtube videos to get started.
3) You will need to download some beat making VST plugins and drum kits, sound loops, melody loops and other instruments that you can use in your DAW software. We have got a small list of free vst / drum kit downloads that you can use in your music production session whilst composting your beat.
