The great news is that VCV Rack 2 is set to be released this year in November 2021. This means VCV Rack is receiving a huge update.
The developers have been very kind to share an awesome sneak preview for VCV Rack 2, this is the biggest update ever yet for the most popular and used modular synth platform for Windows, macOS & Linux systems.

- Workflow improvements to streamline browsing for modules and patching
- And an overall update of the VST plugin

VCV Rack Community Edition will be available as free/open-source software. this has always been free and will stay free. There will also be an option to purchase a pro version is exclusive support, extra presets, and much more.
